Robin Hood and his Merry Bandit… in Switzerland

Ahh, Switzerland. The land of chocolates and expensive watches. Not to mention bank accounts of the wealthiest people on the planet. True enough, a wealthy individual was just caught breaking the speed limit in one Swiss town, namely St. Gallen, and his violation cost around three times the worth of his car on eBay. Yep, you heard right – three times! That’s what happens here in Switzerland. There’s no flat rate violation fees. You’re charged depending on how wealthy you are, and if you’re in Switzerland, you probably are. This man, rumored to be worth around $22.7 million US, was charged $290,000 for running 85 miles per hour, 35 mph above the speed limit, and its his second violation. Well, at least his first only cost him half as much. So all in all, he’s paid around the value of four and a half Ferrari Testarossas. Yup, that’s the car he was driving. Oh, what a dream it is to be rich and driving in the Alps. This incident kinda’ reminds you of Robin Hood and his merry bandit, doesn’t it? It only happens here in Eurotive.
