Ferrari’s building a new Enzo, and it’s going to leave the old V12 behind and replacing it with a twin-turbo V8, or so we think.
Autocar did not manage to get a definitive answer from Ferrari CEO Amadeo Felisa in their last interview. Autocar asked Felisa if it was true that Ferrari was building new V6 and V8 twin-turbo engines, and the man only denied the V6 saying they won’t build six-potters unless customers ask for it.
Still, no denial means yes so perhaps there’s truth to the rumors. Right now, Ferrari is sticking to its big gun V8 and V12 engines for its current lineup, which includes the 599XX and the 599 GTO. In case you aren’t aware, the 599 GTO is currently the fastest Ferrari to date. Heck, it’s even faster than the Enzo. Hopefully, a twin-turbo V8 will change that once the new Enzo comes into production. Only time will tell.

Are you a fan of Ferrari? Considering you’re reading this blog, then you probably are. And you’ll probably enjoy hearing news of the Ferrari 599XX lapping the Nurburgring in just 6:58:16. What you won’t be proud about is Ferrari boasting of setting a record with a ‘production-derived sports car’.
First of all, it is NOT a production sports car – only based on one. Second, it was wearing slicks and had to be shipped all the way from Italy to the Green Hell. Considering the Radical SR8LM’s feat back in August, lapping the ‘Ring in just 6:48 on totally legal rubbers. What’d you make of that?
If you ask us, it’s not really a fair comparison. Why can’t Ferrari just drive their 599 GTO to the ‘Ring on road legal rubbers? Setting a record with a race car isn’t really spectacular. Setting a record with a road-legal production car – now that’s something worthy of attention.

Here’s something even marketing professionals just can’t ignore – a good old Ferrari up for grabs.
For $115,000, you get to own this mint-condition 1985 512 Berlinetta Boxer. Nevermind if its engine isn’t a flat 12 with which the original BB debuted with. For the money, you get a 180-degree V12 whose song calls upon the heavens above and the hells below.

If you had this baby, would you park it in your own living room and gawk at its sexy lines all day? Or would you rather drive around town and be cooler than Steve McQueen?
Both ideas sound good, but we’d rather be out driving it like it was supposed to – like hell.
Of course, we’d still be pampering it with all the love money can’t buy.
What do you think?

Ever dreamt of being a fighter pilot? Well, you’re not alone. Apparently, boys down at Gemballa are so obsessed with supercars and fighter planes that they stop at nothing to bring the two together.
Their latest work is the Gemballa Mig-U1, based on an FXX-ish Ferrari Enzo. The jet, err, Enzo, makes 700 hp with its lighter package, and will be offered in different colors, namely white, black, red, green, orange and baby blue. If you’re interested in seeing how each hue strikes, Gemballa’s site provides a sneak peak.

So Ferrari fans, you might want to be quick about ordering one for your stable because only 25 Enzos will be given the transformation. Just make sure you can handle it, because we’ve seen too many Enzos meet their fiery demise under inexperienced hands.

Ahh, Switzerland. The land of chocolates and expensive watches. Not to mention bank accounts of the wealthiest people on the planet. True enough, a wealthy individual was just caught breaking the speed limit in one Swiss town, namely St. Gallen, and his violation cost around three times the worth of his car on eBay. Yep, you heard right – three times! That’s what happens here in Switzerland. There’s no flat rate violation fees. You’re charged depending on how wealthy you are, and if you’re in Switzerland, you probably are. This man, rumored to be worth around $22.7 million US, was charged $290,000 for running 85 miles per hour, 35 mph above the speed limit, and its his second violation. Well, at least his first only cost him half as much. So all in all, he’s paid around the value of four and a half Ferrari Testarossas. Yup, that’s the car he was driving. Oh, what a dream it is to be rich and driving in the Alps. This incident kinda’ reminds you of Robin Hood and his merry bandit, doesn’t it? It only happens here in Eurotive.

This is not a case of being bitten by a Ferrari bug. This piece of news just deserves some attention, involving none other than Ferrari’s head honcho.
You know what they say about rich kids driving fast cars. Put them in a tight situation and they break, both the kid and the car. Or rather, it’s the rich kid which puts the car in the tight situation.
Whatever. In this case, it ain’t some thirteen year old thrashing daddy’s car. It’s none other than Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo who’s gotten his own California stuck in a gravel trap in Valencia, Spain. What’s more embarrassing about the whole incident was he had both Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso riding along on the rear, waving to fans during their parade lap during the Ferrari World Finals.
Perhaps both Formula One drivers were too busy greeting fans to notice their boss heading off track. Or perhaps they just let the old man make fun of himself. You can see both Massa and Alonso smiling on cam while Montezomolo further digs into the gravel. Or was it all just a show to prove how helpless a Ferrari can be on gravel?
Either way, it’s not a good sign for Ferrari. Well, at least for Montezomolo.

There are some things in this world which are simply unimaginable, and yet, despite their hair-raising existence, still manage to pluck at a person’s curiosity, if not passion. And that is exactly what this one-of-a-kind Ferrari 599 GTB does. It bothers you with its unique paintjob, yet still captures your full attention thanks to its Italian roots.

Hand painted by Chinese artist Lu Hao, this 599 wears the ultra-rare pattern of the coveted Ge Liln porcelain from the Song Dynasty. We already know how rare a 599 is. More rare is the limited-edition 599 HGTE Maranello made exclusively for the market in Mainland China. So this one comes as a surprising jewel for those with interest in both cars and Oriental culture.
Enough said. The car was auctioned off at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing last Tuesday, and was sold to a collector from Shanghai (who refused to be named). The proceeds reportedly goes to help budding Chinese automotive engineers who want to study in Europe. They even stand a chance to have internship training in Maranello.
On hand to witness the auction was Lu Hao, executives of Ferrari, faculty from participating colleges and Schumi himself. Their presence just goes to show Ferrari’s appreciation of the Chinese market. So you’re probably going to see a lot more prancing horses in the mainland if things work out as expected.

Geez, talk about pride! The Italians are really serious when it comes to copycats of Maranello’s pride. In the photo above, Italian cops are rigging away a Toyota MR2 dressed to look like a Ferrari 355 Berlinetta. And guess where it’s going? To the crusher. Sounds like an awful fate for the Japanese midship, don’t you think? Well, in Ferrari land, that doesn’t to be case. The Italians value their crown jewel, and they ain’t going to let no cheap Jap-copycat take away what’s theirs. This should serve as a fair warning to all you phonies out there. Never mess with the Italians on home ground.
